Customer Problem

We were approached by a new customer who specializes in extruding PVC housing units for the “Cable Raceway” business. The customer had been using an alternative tape for several years but wanted to look at other alternatives.

Challenges & Hurdles

Our customer started to extrude a new, more dense PVC filled with higher content of plasticizers and their current tape was not “biting” through the plasticizers to get a good bond and adhesion. In addition, they wanted longer length rolls of tape in order to run this new extrusion line in longer length sections without having to stop every few minutes to replace the shorter rolls of tape they were currently getting.

Elite Tape Solution

We tested our Elite #590R double coated polyester tape because it has plasticizer resistant tackifiers in its adhesive system. The #590R worked great in this particular application and on all of their other extrusion lines. Not only did the #590R perform incredibly well, we were able to offer our customer long length pancake rolls up to 750yds and also in spools at 2250yds. The longer length rolls have saved our new customer labor time and money while also solving their application problems.
